Dunk Island Sport FishingWe are blessed to live and work in one of the richest and most beautiful environments on earth, Tropical Far North Queensland. A lush paradise of thick rainforest teaming with an abundance of wildlife and edged by endless kilometres of golden sandy beaches and azurre blue seas, that are teaming with fish and other marine life.
The seas off our coastline contain one of the natural wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef. A more diverse and vital marine ecosystem you will not find anywhere else on the planet. There are two main forms of fishing around the reef, Sport Fishing for the exciting pelagic fish and Bottom Fishing for the amazing variety of reef fish. In our neck of the woods, the reef is very close to the mainland, in fact there are points nearby where the reef and mainland meet. This brings the abundant variety of inner reef fish right up to our coastline. Cairns and Tropical North Queensland
are renowned for having some of the most scenic yet diverse and productive
fishing locations on the planet. From pristine mountain streams to isolated
reefs miles from anywhere, the environments are as diverse as the fish
that live in them. Only a short distance of about 50 miles separates a lively mountain jungle perch from a giant black marlin, ready to swallow anything that swims, and we at Dunk Island Sport Fishing have the experience and equipment to help you tackle any fishing challenge you wish to take on. A short drive south of Cairns lie Dunk and Bedarra Islands. Owned and operated by Voyages Hotels and Resorts, these are top, world class resort islands. They are close enough to Cairns to be convenient, but far enough away to reflect the unspoilt paradises that they are. Dunk Island Sport Fishing runs two modern purpose built boats and has been proudly owned and operated by Alister & Kerri Pike and their family for many years.
